Yesterday, we kicked off GO-FAR 2025 (Going Overseas For Advanced Reporting), the annual highlight of our journalism training at the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information, Nanyang Technological University Singapore.
An annual tradition since 2005, GO-FAR brings our young WKWSCI journalists to another country to immerse themselves and uncover the human stories that need to be told. This year, we’re headed to Thailand on 26th July and we’re spending this week on campus to prep for the trip.
We’re also privileged to have guest speakers who have given us their precious time to impart insights and tips on impactful journalism. A big thanks to Audrey Tan and Judith Tan for sharing about their overseas adventures in environmental and health journalism!
I’m joining GO-FAR for the first time, and learning plenty from Samuel He who has been coaching the participants for 14 years. Trivia: we were both photojournalists in SPH Media’s Photo Desk, but our paths didn’t cross earlier.
