ChatGPT Projects

I think many people don’t look at the sidebar of ChatGPT enough. OpenAI has added really useful features such as GPTs (chatbots), Library (for browsing your generated images) and most recently, “Projects”, which allows you to store your files and conversations.

“Projects” is similar to how NotebookLM works – after you upload your files, you can start a chat which always references back to those files. For example, if you upload a long list of media regulations, you can use this “Project” to ask questions about the regulations or verify whether your created content is compliant with them.

In essence, a “Project” functions like a simple chatbot with its own store of data. The good thing is that “Projects” is available to all free users!

I shared about “Projects” yesterday when I trained faculty staff and researchers from RSIS | S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies, NTU – they all deal with a lot of data, but I cautioned that only non-sensitive data should be uploaded.

Anthropic’s Claude and Google’s Gemini have similar features – you just need to take a closer look at their sidebars.
