Google has just rolled out a new type of Gem in the Gemini app- custom mini apps where you can design the workflow and iterate each step in specific ways. Gems were originally custom chatbots which I teach in my workshops as most people don’t know they exist. Now, Gems has been supercharged with a flowchart (node) interface and the ability to plug in tools.
In this demo that I built, I wanted to create an app that could do a quick analysis of my meal in terms of calories and nutrients. Gemini always has a problem calculating calories correctly, so with this new workflow I was able to include the ability to adjust the quantity of each ingredient to get a more accurate reading. And yes, this meal was definitely around 470kCal.
