Earlier this week during the Straits Times Gen AI Masterclass, a participant asked (paraphrased): “What would you advise the next generation about dealing with this new age of AI?”
I said that young people (and the rest of us) need to be able to adapt to change all the time. “It sounds cliched, but it’s true. We will experience failure, it’s ok feel sad for a while, but we must get up again quickly.” And parents need to let their children experience tough things and deal with failure, rather than trying to design a sheltered life and a fixed narrative for them.
Given the speed of advancement of AI, it’s not possible to figure out what life will be like five years from now, but we can only expect a more rapid dismantling of what we know. We must be strong and sharp enough to play a part in building the new reality.
Today, I received the latest article from “Personal Math with Greg and Taylor”, and Greg Shove (CEO of Section) articulated the same themes, but in a clearer way. Do have a read.
