ChatGPT o3-mini

Another day, another new ChatGPT model from OpenAI. This time, it’s called “o3-mini”. This is a faster and cheaper version of “o1-mini”, which itself was a mini version of “o1”. Yeah, I know, the word soup is driving me crazy too.

o3-mini seems smart and easy to work with. I asked it to poke holes in my teaching frameworks, evaluate my writing, discuss environmental issues, and the expressed “chain of thought” was clear and speedy. It can also access the Internet to pull data.

If you are a free ChatGPT user, you can access o3-mini by selecting the “Reason” button in the prompt window. I’m sure this has nothing to do with DeepSeek (which focuses on reasoning) being free to use.
