OpenAI recently released a report on how US students are using ChatGPT. Their survey shows that students are using Gen AI for almost every aspect of their school life. I’m not surprised at all, but I’m sure others would be.
If you are an educator and you haven’t been using Gen AI much, you probably have no idea how students can run rings around your traditional assignments with a few well-written prompts. Teachers must become more adept at Gen AI than their students. We must understand how to encourage actual learning and thinking, while embracing the fact that this technology is now the norm.
If you are not using AI like these young people are, you will become the exception.
