Google Gemini now includes the latest imaging engine nicknamed “nano-banana” and it’s designed for image editing. To test it, I gave it my classic “Give Ian Back His Hair” challenge. See which hairstyles you can identify.
Some tips:
- You can iterate on your prompts to keep editing an image, but you risk image degradation and sometimes, Gemini doesn’t allow you to backtrack. So when you’ve figured out what you want, it’s best to upload your image again and use your refined prompt on it.
- Gemini is still terrible at making infographics and generating text. Keep to short words, and use quote marks for text generation. For eg. Generate the headline “Hello World”.
- You have to define your aspect ratio manually in Gemini. So add phrases like “16:9” (landscape), “3:4” (portrait), “1:1” (square) in your prompt.
