I had plenty to say in the past week, so let’s get into the recap.
What I’m doing with AI:
Google AI Studio is getting more powerful for vibe coding. I rebuilt my Chinese language flashcard app to allow for multiple users with Google authentication, the ability to recap words, and a much better UI. Anyone can build the same app now, you just need to think through the user journey, get the right data sources, and be patient as you work with AI. Or you could attend my advanced courses…
If you ask me which Gen AI plan to subscribe to now, it’s a toss-up between Google AI (for imaging and simple vibe coding) and Claude (for agentic AI that really works for office tasks). Google now offers 5TB of online storage for S$30 a month and that’s a really good deal for people like me who switch between multiple computers.
Announcing the Executive Certificate In Agentic AI Leadership global course that runs over 18 weeks starting this June. This is brought to you by Academy for Professional and Continuing Education (NTU PACE) and Emeritus, and the course is led by Alvin Ng and myself.
My April Fool’s joke will either make you laugh or raise your hairs on your neck. Made with Google AI Studio and the expensive Veo 3.1 model.
What you shouldn’t do with AI:
Freelance journalist uses Gen AI to write book review. What could go wrong?
It’s funny and sad how people who use AI to generate worthless comments always run away when you call them out.
Are you one of those who are angry about AI’s immense use of water? If so, are you also angry about golf courses?
Life and other matters
Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong has written an essay every Singaporean should read, not just about how the country is run, but also demonstrating what good writing is.
It’s good to recycle beverage containers, but why not just encourage people to carry water bottles? There’s only upside to drinking plain water.
We can’t do anything about the war in Iran, but we can enjoy life while we can, and know where to cut back on spending.
A lot of people offer Good Friday greetings, but gloss over the main point that Jesus died so we can reconcile with God and not suffer in hell. While that’s an offensive message to many, Jesus always preached peacefully. And that’s how we Christians are asked to live.
A torrid tale of my former mistress from Italy. I will always love her.
I keep track of my VO2 max score weekly, and you should too. You’ll need a sports watch that can measure your heart rate and provide the VO2 score.
I’ve always disliked the idea and the execution of Chromebooks. I hope that the MacBook Neo will bury Chromebooks.
