I was asked to do a “mock lecture” for our student visitors from Nanyang Junior College who were keen to find out about life at the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information. However, I told the JC students that “I only know how to do real lectures.” I’m authentic that way…
So, I gave them a choice of topics and they chose the one where I teach undergraduates (within 20 minutes) how to draw anything so they can create advertisement mockups. I also told them that everything they watch on social media is the product of great communication and design skills, which is why we cannot separate visuals from words.
