INVEST IN YOURSELF: I saw many familiar faces in The Straits Times Advanced Generative AI Masterclass. They had attended the original Masterclass (now renamed the Fundamentals version) and were back to level up their skills in prompting, data analysis, and creating AI tools for their work.
I was also glad to see that over half of the participants had subscriptions to apps like ChatGPT or Google Gemini. Now, I don’t get any commission from OpenAI when I ask people to try a Gen AI subscription, but I recommend that they give it a go for one month to experience the features they are missing, such as creating GPT chatbots to automate work.
I totally understand if students say they can’t afford to pay for Gen AI. But for working adults, we need to constantly invest in ourselves. We don’t bat an eye when we buy presentable work clothes or pay for a car ride to get to a meeting on time. So what shall we do to understand a technology that could possibly take our jobs…or help us build new careers?
Most of us are thinking about how AI will impact our lives. My workshop participants are always curious and willing to push their boundaries. That’s the right mindset to thrive in any age, and I thank all of them for also inspiring me to do better!
