The sixth edition of The Straits Times Gen AI Masterclass happened this week. As with every edition, I updated the workshop content to keep up with the rapid advancements in Gen AI. I always tell each class: the hot Gen AI app today will probably be obsolete in the next few months, so always be trying new apps with a newbie mindset!
I added what’s hot:
❤️ ChatGPT imaging – amazing text and memes
❤️ Google Whisk – beautiful images and easy videos
❤️ Google Veo 3 – mindblowing videos
❤️ Google Gemini – “vibe coding” web apps
I dropped what’s not:
❌ DeepSeek has not advanced in any way.
❌ Midjourney imaging is still great, but for a niche audience.
❌ Sora and every other Gen AI video app has been decimated by Veo 3.
❌ Whisper is still good for audio transcription, but only for geeks. Phone transcription is now free and good.
