Tailgating Simulator with Gemini

This morning I was driving to work and I saw a PHV driver in the right lane tailgating closely behind the car in front of him. The PHV driver was obviously a road bully. He kept flashing his lights at the car in front, even though the other cars ahead were all travelling at 90 kmh already. I was thinking, “Does this guy not know probabilities?” That gave me the idea to create this Tailgating Simulator with Google Gemini.

The simulator examines two outcomes: the probability of getting into an accident when tailgating, and the actual time saved by tailgaters. This assumes the travelling speed of all cars is 80kmh and the tailgater needs to cover 20 km. I also set the minimum probability of an accident at 20%.

It took a few iterations to get it right, and when I published the simulator, two things surprised me.

Firstly, the time saved by tailgaters is almost zero seconds. Secondly, Gemini now publishes the vibe-coded web app as a Google Site with a lot more functionality and customization for app owners. I can put my ThinkTan logo at the top now! Boomz!
