Editing NotebookLM slide decks

I HAVE THE POWER (TO EDIT NOTEBOOKLM SLIDES): While many Gen X-ers are gushing over the new Masters of the Universe movie trailer, I’m more excited by my discovery of how to edit the slide decks made by Google’s NotebookLM.

NotebookLM is an amazing app where you upload your data files and then query them with Google Gemini. In the past six months, it has gained the ability to generate slide decks and infographics, but all the text are actually generated images that cannot be edited as text.

To overcome that limitation, here are the steps (You will need a paid Canva subscription account):

1️⃣ Generate a slide deck in NotebookLM with your data and then download as a PDF.

2️⃣ Search for Canva’s webpage “Convert PDF to PPT”, and do just that with your PDF.

3️⃣ You will then be in Canva’s editing interface, but each slide will still be uneditable. That’s when you click “Edit” > “Magic Studio” > “Grab Text” and all the baked text will become editable.

Of course, the fonts will not be exactly alike and you have to clean up the text formatting, but now you have the power of Google’s wonderful AI visuals (Nano Banana or NB Pro) and full control over text content.
