Saying hi from the talk I gave yesterday to participants of the DesCartes Program Annual Seminar. They are researchers solving difficult problems in the real world, and I was there to share how they could tell their stories to different audiences and to the public.
I started my talk by explaining why “3 is the magic number” (see my newsletter) and I ended by saying “Love” is the most important thing.
Love?!?
If you love your work, then let people see your passion: share your discoveries and efforts regularly on social media like LinkedIn!
And if you love your audience, then get them excited about it with the stories you tell, using simple and effective language. With Gen AI as your writing partner, it’s never been easier to convey complex ideas and scientific matters in simple ways.
The DesCartes Program is a five-year international research initiative between France and Singapore, launched in October 2021 and hosted by CNRS@CREATE, the Singaporean subsidiary of CNRS (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique / the French National Centre for Scientific Research). The program focuses on hybrid AI for urban challenges, bringing together researchers from core AI, engineering, and the social sciences.
Thank you to Shirley Ho for connecting me to the DesCartes Program, and to Flora Luciani for hosting me yesterday!
